ABOUT FATE

Narrator. Cosmic case manager. The reason things happen in Serendipity!

I have been here since before anyone thought to name this town.

I named it, for the record. Serendipity. It took me approximately four seconds and I have never second-guessed it, which is unusual because I second-guess humans constantly. They make it very easy.

I placed the river along the western edge of town. I put The Novel Approach exactly where it needed to be... center of Main Street, warm light in the windows, books floor to ceiling, a woman named Maggie Callahan behind the counter who knows what you need to read before you do. I arranged the bench outside ROASTED at precisely the right angle.

I have opinions about lamp post placement that I won't bore you with.

Fine. The one on the corner of Main and Birch is 4 degrees off and 6 inches too short. I've filed a complaint with myself. It's pending.

I am not a matchmaker.

I want to be very clear about that.

I do not interfere with the love stories that happen in this town. I observe. I nudge.

Occasionally I tilt the odds in directions I find interesting. But what the people of Serendipity do next... the blue journals left in bookshop children's sections, the cupcakes left on windshields, the widowed doctor who finally walks into the flower shop... those belong to the humans. I simply create the conditions.

Currently I have several active case files. I won't elaborate here. You haven't earned that yet.

What I will tell you is that Serendipity has a 100% happily ever after rate. Every single love story in this town ends exactly the way it's supposed to. Not easily. Not quickly. Not without considerable chaos, missed signals, and at least one incident involving a cupcake on a windshield. But it ends right.

I don't promise you fast. I don't promise you smooth. I promise you real.  And yes, some content will be for 18+ only.

Every month, I document what's happening in this town.
